Carlton Marsh

There were 247 Herring Gulls and 3 LBB Gulls on the wader this morning, with a creche of 17 Greylags.
A Willow Tit calling at mid-day stopped me in my tracks. I lamped on it and could see it had no rings on. It then started to sing. This is first calling bird here since December 2019, we had no singing birds in that year, perhaps this is a failed breeding bird looking for a new site. Who says they don't move far!

Carlton
A female Peregrine attacked a Carrion Crow near Dave Smith's home before heading south towards Carlton Marsh at 16.10hrs.
Just before that a Buzzard with prey flew between Lee Lane at Royston and and the Memorial lake at Carlton.

South Kirkby Reclamation
2 Swifts passed over with 2 House Martins.
Butterflies on show were 8m 4f Brimstone, 44 Small Heath, 45 Dingy Skipper and 4 Mother Shipton and 3 Common Carpet moths. 1 micro Epiblema cynosbattella. (Chris Parkin)
