The Wintersett gull roost produced the birds again this evening. Watched by a bumper crowd, most of the locals were out (one out of hibernation) and a couple of Old Moors finest were here for a lesson in gulling (dont worry, you wont be named). A first-winter Yellow-legged Gull (a different bird to yesterday) was first to be found quickly followed by both of yesterdays returning first-winter Caspian Gulls. Both Caspians showed well and were in the same 'scope view at one stage. And at 4.00 pm a juvenile(first-winter) Glaucous Gull flew in to be the eighth gull species in the roost (next weeks Birdracers take note). Totals of other large gulls were equally impressive with;- GBBGull 305, LBBGull 10, Herring Gull 940.
And with a day list including;- American Wigeon, Long-tailed Duck, Scaup, Egyptian Goose - best site in Yorkshire? Well it certainly is at present!

Seems a bit unfair to me that I'm to be tried shortly for this serious offence, yet Dave Waddington and his dog Jack, get away with it. Good job I,m not a grass!
