Roy Castle!

Yes folks, it is a record breaker - a minimum flock of 470 Waxwings at White Rose Roundabout, Wombwell this afternoon, the highest ever number recorded in the Barnsley area....... so far. Quite an incredible sight with large flocks coming and going regular leading me to think there must be many more but about 470 was the most that I saw present at any one time. As always there looked to be far less until I actually counted them. They were dropping to feed on berries adjacent to Billington Structure but the way they were going through them they might not last long.
