Broomhill Flash mid AM- A bright, clear and cold start. On two small areas of open water( 95% ice cover) were 16Shoveler,6 Mallard, 3 Tufted Duck, 3 Gadwall, 3 Teal, 1f Goosander, 1 Pochard and 1 Shelduck. On the ice were 23 Lapwing, 8 Pied Wagtail, 4 Golden Plover and 2 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 6 Red Legged Partridge, 5 Grey Partridge, 1 LBB Gull, 8 Snipe, 1 Kestrel and 1f Sparrowhawk.
Bolton Ings late AM- The mist began to roll in and by the time we reached the Cormorant Hide, the only waterbirds visible on the pools , through the fog , were 4 adult Mute Swans and 3 juveniles. 12 Mallard and 6 Tufted Duck were seen on the R. Dearne. Also present were 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Green Woodpecker
