Edderthorpe area, Sunday

An early start at Houghton Washlands and as I arrived all the Lapwings and ducks were in the air in a panic state. Sat in the middle of the field/marsh was a immature Peregrine, no wonder were not seeing much here if this is happening regular. Edderthorpe itself was less disturbed and held;- 2 Little Egrets, 2 Shelduck, 12 Teal, 70 Tufted, 6 Cormorants, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Greenshank, 2 LRPs, 2 Ringed Plover, 1 Common Sandpiper, 3 Swifts amongst the hirundines, 6 Reed Warblers. The first Lapwing chicks have hatched at Symphony. WENTWORTH; a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was calling and showing here this morning (John Clarkson).
