The Edge 29th Apr

Wombwell Ings mid AM-  Located by Paul White c8.10am, 2 Sandwich Terns departed NNW at 9.58am. Also present were 3 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant, 1 Mute Swan, 13 Canada Geese, 12 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 22 Gadwall, 21 Tufted Duck, 10+ Mallard, 3 Shoveler, 20+ Lapwing, 4 Redshank, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 5 Skylark and 3 Linnet. Additions from a mid afternoon visit included 5 Avocet, 2 more LRP, 2 Wigeon, 4 Pied Wagtail, 1 White Wagtail and the first Lapwing chick in the back field.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- On the open water were 1 Cormorant, 5 Little Grebe, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Mute Swan, 33 Tufted Duck, 14 Pochard, 7 Gadwall, 5 Mallard + a brood of 5 ducklings, 2 Shoveler, 1 LBB Gull  and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 8 Greylag, 5 Canada Geese, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Kestrel, 1 Kingfisher and 1 Grey Wagtail.
TPT- Singing males included 6 Whitethroat, 5 Blackcap, 5 Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff and 1 Lesser Whitethroat.
