The Edge 25th July

Broomhill Flash mid AM - Present were 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 13 Little Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 72 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 15 Mallard, 13 Tufted Duck +22 young, 10 Gadwall+11 young, 30+ Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 1 Green Sandpiper and 2 Kestrel.

Bolton Ings late AM/early PM - On the water were 14 Little Grebe, 2 adult Great Crested Grebe +3 young, 10 Cormorant, 4 Mute Swan +5 cygnets, 36 Canada Geese, 15 Greylag, 28 Tufted Duck +43 young, 17 Gadwall+ 23 young, 10 Pochard and 5 Mallard. Also present 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 83+ Lapwing, 1 Redshank, 1 Greenshank(calling), 1 Jay, 4 Whitethroat, 3 singing Chiffchaff and 1 Kestrel.

Wombwell Ings mid PM - Many thanks to Dave Waddington and his RSPB team for promptly cleaning out the hide and making it horse-proof. However, if you are larger than size zero then you will not find it easy to get through the entrance at the bottom of the steps. Present were 11 Grey Heron, 25 Greylag, 19 Mallard, 15 Gadwall, 40+ Lapwing, 1 Greenshank, 1juv Curlew and 2 Linnet.
