The Edge 2nd Apr

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Peering through the mist the visible birds included 2 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 4 Mute Swan, 69 Canada Geese, 11 Greylag,  c120 Wigeon, 21 Tufted Duck, 15 Mallard, 9 Gadwall, 7 Shoveler, 6 Teal, 6 Pochard, 25+ Lapwing, 22 Golden Plover, 5 Redshank, 103+ BH Gull, 1 Common Gull, 5 Skylark, 4 Sand Martin, 2 Red Legged Partridge and 3 Reed Bunting.
Broomhill Flash late AM- Temperature of 6 degrees C but the moderate breeze was gradually pushing the mist back. As usual  'The Week a Wednesday Club' made for good company. Occasional distractions included 4 Little Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 7 Greylag, 18 Tufted Duck, 7 Gadwall, 6 Wigeon, 3 Pochard, 2 Shoveler, 2 Teal, 5 Snipe, 2 Golden Plover, 2 Kestrel and 2 Red Legged Partridge.
J.Thompson had 4 Blackcap at the Brickworks and 1 Little Owl on the Top Lane.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- Still cold. On the open water were 9  Little Grebe, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 11 Canada Geese, 6 Greylag, 37 Tufted Duck, 8 Pochard, 5 Gadwall, 2 Mallard, 1m Shoveler, c420 BH Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present 2 Oystercatcher and 8 singing Chiffchaff.
