The Edge 30/04/2018

Wombwell Ings - Back on the Ings after a good week's birdwatching in Hungary. Present were 7 Mute Swan, 26 Canada Geese, 8 Greylag, 2 Pink Footed Geese, 18 Tufted Duck, 17 Gadwall, 5 Mallard, 2 Shoveler, 2 Pochard, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 7 Coot, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 3 Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Redshank, 1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 26 BH Gull, 2 Swift, 6+ Skylark, 1 White Wagtail, 1 Mistle Thrush  and 2 Linnet. On Doveside, K.Fisher also had 2 Coal Tit and 1 Reed Warbler. Singing in Broomhill Park were 1 Lesser White Throat, 1 Chiffchaff and 1 Willow Warbler.
Broomhill Flash - Highlight was a Little Gull. Also noted were 2 Mute Swan, 17 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag, 12 Gadwall, 9 Tufted Duck, 7 Pochard, 6 Mallard, 9 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 3 Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Peregrine, 1 Kestrel, 5 Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher, 6 Herring Gull, 3 LBB Gull and 3 Swift.
TPT - Singing males 5 Chiffchaff, 3 Willow Warbler, 2 Blackcap.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 1 Mute Swan, 6 Canada Geese, 6 Greylag, 17 Tufted Duck, 12 Gadwall, 5 Pochard, 1 Mallard, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Black Necked Grebe, 18 Coot + 10 young, 518+ BH Gull, 6 LBB Gull, 4 Herring Gull and 1 Common Gull.. Also present were 1 Green Woodpecker 2 Whitethroat, 1 House Martin and 1 Sedge Warbler. K.Fisher also had a Garden Warbler on Bolton west end,
