Wintersett + Gull Roosts Pics 17.01.15

1°C,   very cold but sunny, with sleet showers and a light south westerly.
Anglers CP: Greylag Goose 131and Teal 31, Wigeon 198 and Redwing 80.  Water Rail 1 and Golden Plover 4 over.  A Pink-footed Goose was in with the Greylags and then on the north bank Wintersett Res..
Wintersett Res: 2 skeins of Pink-footed Geese went west.  70 at 10.20hrs  and 80 at 11.50hrs.
Anglers Gull Roost: Another good show tonight with an adult Iceland Gull at 14.20hrs,  the juvenile Glaucous Gull  showing well at 15.50hrs,  the usual adult Yellow-legged Gull at 16.25hrs and a 2nd W Caspian Gull at 16.40hrs.
WRes + ACP Gull Totals:  3000 Herring Gull - 1900 ACP + 1100 WRes,  381 Greater Black-backed Gull - 281 ACP + 100 WRes.,  3 Lesser Black-backed ACP.
A Barn Owl was seen in the SE corner of WRes at dusk.
NB Pugneys had a sub-adult Caspian Gull and 3 Yellow-legged Gulls.
p.m. Wombwell Ings had a adult Mediterranean gull with a metal ring right leg and missing secondary from left wing.  It is the regular male returning for the sixth year. He has never attracted a mate!! He left west.
