A first winter Herring Gull seen on the Country Park on 2nd March 2014 had been rung as a chick 2465 kms away on 29th June 2013 at Vardo Island in the Arctic northeast of Norway. (JX347 - see picture below). It had also been reported from Wintersett by Brian Leeman who saw it on February 26th.
A Herring Gull that was rung 983 kms away as a first calendar year at Ostfold in southern Norway on December 7th 2013 (J595A) was seen on the rocks in front of the Country Park hide on December 29th 2014.
