Wintersett + Gull Roost 07.01.16

5 - 7 degrees, 8/8 with rain and  wind changing from south easterly to westerly mid morning.
Wintersett Res: A Water Rail was in the boathouse reedbed.   The west bank track flood is the deepest I've seen it.
Anglers CP Roost:  Gull numbers were really poor this afternoon.  The bulk of birds went over to Wintersett Res. Psycho, the adult Yellow-legged Gull, was seen briefly at 15.30hrs.  The Barn Owl was hunting at 16.00hrs.  44 Goosanders came in and a Buzzard flew over to roost at dusk.
The footpaths around ACP are waterlogged from the entrance onwards - wellies required.
GOOD NEWS TODAY - The decision to close the Squire Tearoom has been reversed by the leader of Wakefield Council, Peter Box.

That's fantastic news and just shows what can be achieved if people are passionate enough and stick together and fight.
