Hartcliff Hill

A very steady 4 hours around the hill, but a pleasure due to the lovely conditions: a very light wind, cold and clear. Highlight was a Merlin which bombed NW at 11.00 before returning with prey in talons about 25 mins later. Also of note c. 140 Golden Plover, c. 60 Fieldfare, single Raven, and single Great Black-backed gull S with 2 Herring Gulls. Frustratingly, an large and obviously interesting flock of finches/buntings are blogging about Bella Vista rendering plant, which is strictly private property. At least 11 Yellowhammers were seen but they're very mobile. If time allows best ploy would be watch with the scope from the path on the N side. One for next time!
Cheers
