The Edge 29.01.16

Wombwell Ings - Walked on to see 2 shooters in the backfield, along with decoy Canada Geese. Saw one Canada Goose taken out of the sky and there appeared to be two other dead birds piled against the hedge. Compared to recent days, numbers of Canada Geese, Lapwing, Golden Plover and Shoveler were down. Present were 2 Mute Swan, 104 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag, 145 Wigeon, 25 Teal, 6 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 4m Pochard, 1m+1f Goosander, 3 Little Egret, 5 Grey Heron, 14 Coot, 112 Golden Plover, 33 Lapwing, 58 BH Gull and 3 Common Gull.

Boltom Ings - On the open water were 3 Mute Swan, 7m+9f Pochard, 14 Tufted Duck, 7m+7f Goosander, 11 Shoveler,  9 Teal, 7 Mallard, 3m+3f Goldeneye, 5 Gadwall, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 145 Coot, 142 BH Gull, 18 Common Gull and 1 Herring Gull. Also present were 17 Canada Geese, 7 Greylag, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant, 11 Lapwing and 1 Green Woodpecker.
