Carlton Marsh

Kids from the new school in Carlton finished putting preservative on the hide today and BTCV will be on site tomorrow to remove Ragwort and Hawthorn scrub from our northern meadow before stock is put on to graze it.

Little Egret was showing well today in the southern meadow. I struggled to identify this moth found outside the hide. The nearest I could get it to was The Sycamore, but it is very rare so it may be The Miller or Poplar Grey. Any thoughts Pete, John?

Cliff. Ragwort is an annual/biennial, so strimming before it sets seed will sort it. You don't have to lullit up!!!

Looks like an excellent candidate for Sycamore. Might you be able to e-mail to Harry Beaumont?

Looks good for Sycamore. This species is spreading into South Yorkshire with increasing frequency, so is not unexpected. Still need it for Wintersett. Pete.

Thanks everybody for you constructive and welcome comments. It goes without saying that Sycamore would be new for the reserve.
I would send it to Harry if I had his email address John. Do you have it please. Thanks
