Old Moor - 15th July
After Bolton Ings this morning, a brief visit to Edderthorpe to see the Juvenile Bittern and a Dads taxi run to Manchester Airport I called for an hour at Old Moor. No wellies so just the Mere Hide and Field Pool West Hide. An adult Mediterranean Gull dropped onto the mere for a wash just after I arrived then flew onto the grass behind the Sand Martin Wall. 5 Common Terns were also on the Mere as were 4 Oystercatchers and 1 Redshank. The family party of LBB Gulls were still present. Also reported today were Herring Gull, Black Tailed Godwit, 2 Common Sands, 2 Redshank and the male Bittern. Yesterday the following were reported, 2 Kingfishers, Water Rail, Female Bittern, 5 Oystercatchers, Barn Owl, 17 Black Tailed Godwits, 4 Common Terns, 2 Greenshank, Common Sand, Green Sand, 5 Redshank, Common Gull, Buzzard and Curlew.
