Return Bittern? Wintersett 26.07.12

Wintersett Res: Highlight today was an adult BITTERN in wing moult that flew from the north bank to the boathouse reedbed, giving brilliant views from the bench.   10 Shoveler, 10 Common Tern and a Kingfisher were also seen.

Anglers CP: The brood of 6 very small Tufted Ducklings have survived another day.  2 Black Headed Gull chicks on the small raft are beginning to explore.  Also present were 2 Pochard , 3 Little Grebe and 80 Lapwing.
Moth traping last night produced: 2 Pine Hawk-moths,  2 White Satin,  2 Scarce Footman,  2 Dingy Footman,  Scallop Shell,  Silky Wainscot,  Southern Wainscot and Poplar Grey.
