Fog delays play

EDDERTHORPE FLASH
Couldn't see a thing before 9.30 but after this the fog slowly gave way to mist and clag. Managed to pick out;- Whooper Swan 1 still here from yesterday, Shelduck 9, Avocet 1, Golden Plover 284 Redshank 14, Ringed Plover 1, Tawny Owl 1, Chiffchaff 8.
WINTERSETT RES
American Wigeon 1 drake with 252 Wigeon, 'Greenland' White-front and 2 Pink-feet, Goosander 5, all on the park lake and the drake Smew still on the top res. Ringed Plover 1, Curlew 1 and Redshank 1. At least a dozen Chiffchaffs were singing around the top res. Not a bad tally considering the mist never cleared all day.

I can't find 'clag' in the dictionary?

Did you mean 'slag' i.e. grabbing hold of the slag while its still misty !!!

An aviation acronym that originated within the Royal Air Force. It stands for "Cloud Low, Aircraft Grounded", but nowadays it is often used in general usage to describe grey, low laying cloud!
