Wombwell Ings

Two whooper swans (ad + imm) this morning.
The adult continually calling - which obviously ties in with the adult found injured at Darfield roundabout. At a guess this bird has hit the overhead powerlines while its been foggy. The bird has since been caught by the RSPB and taken to a vet where it was put to sleep.
Its really sickening !!! Its not the first and I suppose it wont be the last whooper that hits these cables.

Could the one at Edderthorpe this morning be part of the same family group?

Also on Wombwell Ings this morning wigeon 182, goosander 3, golden plover 45 a few lapwings but only 2 redshank. Obviously a shortage of wading birds. But water levels are relatively high here and there are no signs yet of any muddy edges.
