Old Moor Area - March 31st
Back to winter today in the Old Moor area with a cold northerly wind, gloves definitely needed. On Edderthorpe Avocets were back up to 7, also present were Shelduck 7, Redshank 19, LRP 1, Ringed Plover 1 and Golden Plover 340. On Broomhill the 2 Egyptian Geese were still present along with Sand Martin 9, Goldeneye 1, Redshank 2, Buzzard 2, Green Sandpiper 1 and a drake Ruddy Duck. 2 Pink Footed Geese dropped onto Wombwell Ings at 12.55 along with a Grey Lag, also present were Shelduck 1, Redshank 8, LRP 4 and Green Sandpiper 1. Birds at Old Moor included LBB Gull 2, Common Gull 2, Shelduck 2, Redshank 11, Oystercatcher 6, Snipe 2, Goosander pair, Sand Martin 7 and the Pink Feet had been seen earlier. The first Willow Warbler was at the Brickworks Pond. A couple of additions for yesterday were 5 Water Rails on the reedbeds last night and 8 Oystercatchers together.

40 redshank in the area and thats not counting Ferry Moor or Adwick.
