Carlton Marsh

Looking back over the past week; June 24th Tufted Duck with 8 young and a male Broad Bodied Chaser.
25th Our Mute Swans lost one of their two cygnets. 3 Kingfishers were present and a Tawny Owl called at dusk.
27th Butterflies included 1 male Orange-tip, 10 Meadow Brown,14 Ringlet,12 Large Skipper, 4 Small Copper,17 Small Heath and 7 Common Blue. A male Banded Agrion damselfly and lots of Spotted Orchids added more colour. (Hibbert, Corrall & Parkin)
28th A live Signal Crayfish was discovered.
30th A Buzzard and our first 2 Small Skippers of the year.
July 1st A Buzzard, 2 Kingfishers and 3 Little Owls sitting on a lorry chasis in Lidster's yard, opposite Bleachcroft Farm.

White Clawed Crayfish.
Trevor Mayne at Barnsley Council will need to know about that.
