Check weather open!

Not too much to report from Old Moor this afternoon in extremely difficult conditions. Singles each of Common Sandpiper and Black-tailed Godwit were on Wader Scrape where the two fledged Avocets were feeding strongly. One of yesterdays mystery duck had also found its way there. Meanwhile on the Mere the young Lesser Black Backed Gull flexed its wings regular and must be almost ready to fly. Whilst I was in bed this morning (thanks to Solar Panels & Roof Leaks incorporated) visitors had more success with three Common Scoters (2 drakes) spending a while on the Mere.

The torrential rain meant the reserve had to be closed early today so anyone hoping to visit over the weekend is advised to check on the situation, which of course is very much weather dependent. The River Dearne is not over yet but the next 24 hours will be critical.
