Old Moor - 1st July

Great news today from Old Moor that 2 juvenile Bitterns were seen in flight, the female was also seen. Also reported today as follows, 2 Mediterranean Gulls (adult and 2nd summer), Hobby over Bolton Ings, eclipse drake Garganey on Wader Scrape, 3 Common Terns also on Wader Scrape. Waders included Avocets, Redshanks, 2 Black Tailed Godwits, 3 Ringed Plovers, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, Dunlin, 7 Oystercatchers, Lapwings, 3 Common Sandpipers and 1 Green Sandpiper. Also counted were 23 Pochard.

Good news about pochard with 2 young.
Is this the highest recorded number of pochard in the area for this time of year?
And is this a sign that many have been washed out and they are grouping together in the Old Moor area?
Same also applies to the teal numbers.
