The Edge 19.01.16

Wombwell Ings - Highlight was my first Oystercatcher of the year on the Ings. Also present were 6 Mute Swan, 106 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 1 Shelduck, 122+ Wigeon, 14 Teal, 11 Mallard, 6 Shelduck, 5 Tufted Duck, 4m Pochard, 3 Gadwall, 1f Goosander, 2 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 7 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 181 Lapwing, 101+ Golden Plover, 125+ BH Gull, 7 Common Gull and a group of 5 Pied Wagtail. A Willow Tit and a Coal Tit were seen at the feeding area across from Old Moor Tavern.
TPT- 2 Kingfisher ( one seen on Knoll Beck and one flying over the golf course near the five arches bridge) and 8 Siskin .
Bolton Ings - On the eastern pool were 6 Mute Swan, 4 Greylag, 14 Tufted Duck, 7m+4f Pochard, 10 Mallard, 1m+2f Goldeneye, 1 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 146 Coot, 200+ BH Gull, 35 Common Gull and 1 Herring Gull. Also present were 21 Canada Geese, 1m+4f Goosander over, 2 Grey Heron, 5 Moorhen, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Barn Owl.

Not only your first Oystercatcher Alan but the first one in the Old Moor recording area this year. Nice one.
