Wombwell Ings mid AM-The main flash was 100% ice-covered. Present were 2 Mute Swan over, 24 Teal, 19 Mallard, 7 Wigeon, 5 Shoveler, 2 Gadwall, 1m Goosander over, 4 Grey Heron, 2 Cormorant over, 4 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 83 BH Gull, 3 Common Gull, 22 Lapwing, 12+ Redwing, 15 Meadow Pipit, 1 Pied Wagtail, 6 Skylark and 1 calling Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Broomhill Flash late AM- A small area on the western side of the flash was ice-free. Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 94 Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, 29 Teal, 24 Gadwall, 16+ Wigeon, 11 Mallard, 2 Pochard, 3 Tufted Duck, 2 Grey Heron, 44 Coot, 17 Lapwing, c150 BH Gull and 7 Common Gull.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM-Ken Foundation had good views of a Bittern out in the open mid AM. It had sought the sanctuary of the reeds by the time Hopalong Al and Hopalong Seev could get to Nigel's sofa. We did manage to see 2 Mute Swan, 7 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 19 Shoveler, 14 Teal, 11 Mallard, 6 Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 22 Coot, 6 Moorhen, 2 Grey Heron, 74 BH Gull, 8 Common Gull and a pair of Stonechat.
