Wintersett + Gull Roosts 15.02.15


6°C and dry with 8/8 cloud and a light south westerly.  
A walk with the Friends of Haw Park Wood this morming saw 59 species of birds in the area and a further 4 species were seen/heard this afternoon. 
Cold Hiendley Res: The drake and redhead Smew were present until 11.05hrs when they flew on to Wintersett Res where they stayed until 15.00hrs. They returned to CHRes later.
Wintersett Res: Cetti's Warbler 1 male, Teal 1, Water Rail 2  and Willow Tit 1 + 1 ACP.  Goldeneye 50 + 31 ACP.
Wintersett Village: Little Owl 1
Anglers CP: Green Woodpecker 1.  5 Shelduck dropped in briefly and left 12.25hrs,  and another was on the shallows at 16.00hrs.  
Both Gull Roosts were watched today.  A new 2nd W Iceland Gull was picked up first on WRes and then at ACP where it stayed until last thing, when it flew back to WRes. 
Also  Herring Gull 1750 (1600 WRes + 150 ACP).  Lesser Black-backed Gull 10.  Great Black-backed Gull 10.
NB Rufforth Airfield had an adult Iceland Gull at 13.40hrs and an adult Kumlien's Gull at 15.10hrs. per @YorkBirding
