Old Moor Nocturnal Report

Great news, new laptop purchased, so I can blog more frequently, not sure that is great news?

Highlight tonight was a Wood Sandpiper that dropped onto the Main Marsh at 21.00 just before the rain set in. It joined 2 Green Sandpipers and 1 Common Sandpiper.

Roosting in the willows were 15 Cormorants and 14 Little Egrets. The Egrets came in as follows:- 2 already in, 1 @ 19.55, 2 @ 20.01, 1 @ 20.20, 3 @ 20.22, 1 @ 20.25, 1 @ 20.29, 1 @ 21.00 and finally 2 @ 21.05. All the Egrets were in before the rain and tonight they all came from up the valley apart from 2. Interestingly one bird was colour ringed, a red/orange ring on the right leg I think, I only saw it in flight, could it be FJ?

Before I left there were 11 Oystercatchers on the Wader Scrape. Also the brood of 6 Shoveler were still present and there was a further brood of 6 well grown ducklings on the Willow Pool.
