The Edge 15th July

Wombwell Ings - Present were 9 Greylag, 19 Mallard, 16 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Wigeon, 4 Grey Heron, 2 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 1 Kestrel, 45 Lapwing, 1 adult Greenshank, 14 BH Gull, 2 Skylark, c20 House Martin and 3 Pied Wagtail.
 Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan +5 cygnets, 27 Canada Geese, 4 Greylag, 5+14y Gadwall, 6+15y Tufted Duck, 3+1y Mallard, 1 Pochard, 11+2y Little Grebe, 127 Coot, 3 Moorhen, 41 Lapwing, 4 Snipe, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Kestrel, 1 Buzzard and 1 LBB Gull.
Warbler Way - Singing males included 7 Blackcap, 6 Whitethroat, 5 Chiffchaff, 1 Garden Warbler and 1 Sedge Warbler.
 Bolton Ings - Highlight was an extended view at 1.30pm  of a Bittern as it flew west along the northern side of the east pool.On the open water were 3 Mute Swan +11 cygnets, 35 Canada Geese, 4 Greylag, 47+10y Gadwall, 15+5y Tufted Duck, 15 Mallard, 9 Pochard, 12+7y Little Grebe, 3+1y Great Crested Grebe, 185 +15y Coot, 2 Moorhen, 1 Common Gull and 2 LBB Gull. Also present were 4+ Grey Heron,1 Cormorant, 1 Kestrel, 1 Common Tern, 2 Kingfisher and 1 Grey Wagtail.
