Wintersett 16.07.15

17 - 20°C  with  4/8 cloud and a cooling north easterly breeze, but then sunshine with varying amounts of cloud cover from mid morning.  This afternoon - more cloud and the wind changed to easterly.
Anglers CP:  Grey Wagtail 2,  Siskin 1 over, Common Tern 1 adult, Common Gull 1 adult, Cormorant 2 + 1 WRes.  A female Mallard has 5/8 surviving young.   A circling  group of  alarming Black-headed Gulls   alerted us to a juvenile MINK  on rocks on the SE bank.
Odonata: A Four-spotted Chaser was on Big Pond Moorhouse Lane.
A male Broad-bodied Chaser  was near the Golf Course Pond.
3 male Red-veined Darter were off the east bank Anglers CP.   Best views are in sunshine, over flat water when the wind is E to SE.
The male Lesser Emperor was seen patrolling over flat calm areas of water around the Water Crowfoot beds that are just breaking the surface.   Best views are from Graham's bench in the SE/Pits Wood corner of  WRes,   when the wind is from the southern quarter and the sun is shining.
