Carlton Marsh

The highlights today were, Kingfisher, Canada Geese with 5 young, both Little Grebes constructing a nest, 3 pairs of Tufted Duck, 13 Swifts north, 3 Sand Martins north, 10 blackcaps, 7 Reed Warblers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 3 Whitethroats all singing.

11 species of butterfly this afternoon included 1 Dingy Skipper, 1 Comma, 6 Peacock, 8 Orange tip and 2 Speckled Wood.
Also Hoverfly Leucozona lucorum and macro moth Pinion White Spotted - only the second record for this site. (Chris Parkin)
