The Edge 27th May

Wombwell Ings -Signs of a bit more bird activity this morning. Present were 2 Mute Swan, 28 Greylag, 14 Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, 13 Mallard, 10 Gadwall, 9 Tufted Duck, 4 Shoveler, 2 Wigeon, 1 Little Egret, 1 Little Grebe, 22 Coot, 7 Lapwing, 4 Redshank. 2 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Avocet, 25 BH Gull, 3 Skylark, 2 Pied Wagtail and 1 Meadow Pipit.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 23 Canada Geese, 15 Greylag, 5 Shelduck, 22 Tufted Duck, 9 Mallard, 8 Gadwall, 6m+1f+2y Pochard, 1 Shoveler, 1 Teal, 4 Little Grebe, 15 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel and 1 LBB Gull.
Warbler Way - Singing males included 10 Chiffchaff, 10 Blackcap, 9 Willow Warbler, 5 Whitethroat, 3 Sedge Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler and 1 Garden Warbler.
Bolton Ings - The highlight of the day was a Bittern being mobbed by Black Headed Gulls as it flew over the reed beds.  On the open water were 3 Mute Swan + 7 cygnets, 1 Canada Goose, 33 Tufted Duck, 8 Mallard, 7 Gadwall, 1 Pochard, 1 Shoveler, 5 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Little Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 1 LBB Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Lapwing, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Song Thrush and 1 Grey Wagtail,
