Wintersett 02.05.15

6°C,  with 8/8 cloud and a very cold south easterly.  Drizzle then rain in the afternoon.
Anglers CP: Day 5 for the drake Garganey.  2 Little Egret flew SE at 08.30hrs - 1st for the year.  There was an amazing number of Sand Martin in the area, 450 + 200  WRes. They were probably held up by the cold and wet weatherThere were  8m + 1f  Yellow Wagtail + 1m WRes..   Tufted Duck 91 + 14 WRes. Shoveler 1m + 1 f,   Teal 1m,  Snipe 1 Cormorant  1, Little Grebe 1 and Black-headed Gull 195.  
Wintersett Res: A Cuckoo was singing  by the boathouse,and shortly after,  at Botany.  There was also a newly fledged Pied Wagtail and a juvenile Swallow at the boathouse.   A handful of Lesser Whitethroat were singing 4 + 1 ACP,  Sedge Warbler 5,   WILLOW TIT 1 and  Common Tern 12.
