This morning I had distant views of the splendid black tern at Anglers and then lost it until I realised it was flying over the rocks in front of the hide. It then settled on a rock at 11am and stayed there preening for 20 minutes providing crippling views before flying off to feed across the lake.
At Old Moor at 12.10 I had a brief sighting of a bittern in low flight over the reeds.
