Wintersett 10.05.15

A mild 8°C, initially overcast but the cloud cleared gradually, then sunny and warm with a light south westerly.
It was great to see lots of visiting birders and photographers of all ages  today. The Black-necked Grebe put on a prolonged and close performance at Anglers CP.    The adult drake Lesser Scaup was on Wintersett Res until flushed by boats mid morning when it relocated to Cold Hiendley Res.
Anglers CP: An AVOCET dropped in front of the hide briefly,  circled the lake and left south at 08.50hrs.  Cuckoo 1m, Turnstone 1,  Dunlin 1,  Common Sandpiper 1,  Goosander 3 ( 2m+1 imm.m),  Shoveler 1m,   Shelduck 3.  A Mallard had 8 vs ducklings.   Bird of the day was a RINGTAIL HEN HARRIER that flew over west at 11.25hrs.
Wintersett Res:  Common Tern 11.    The Yellow-bellied Slider showed in the boathouse reed bed.
