Bolton Ings - 10th June

Weather good this morning, clear and sunny, little wind and 17c. First broods of Pochard, Shoveler and Moorhen seen and 2 Grey Wagtails on the river being the highlights. Full list :- Grey Heron 2, Mute Swan 4 (broods of 4 and 2), Canada Goose 25 (brood of 2), Grey Lag Goose 14 (broods of 3 and 1), Great Crested Grebe 5, Little Grebe 6 (broods of 2 and 1), Mallard 25 (broods of 5 and 1), Gadwall 55, Shoveler pair + 3 young, Wigeon 1 drake, Tufted Duck 47 (31 drakes, 16 ducks), Pochard 11 (5 drakes, 6 ducks + brood of 2), Coot 82 ( broods of 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1 & 1), Moorhen 5 (broods of 2 and 1), Lapwing 15 + 8 young all nearly at flying stage, Oystercatcher 4 (2 pairs but I still cant see any young), Redshank 2 (again no young seen), Black Headed Gull 382, Common Tern 2, Grey Wagtail 2, Kingfisher 1, Blackcap 7, Willow Warbler 6, Chiffchaff 7, Whitethroat 3, Reed Warbler 4, Sedge Warbler 1.
