Yellow Success at Wintersett 25.06.12

Despite the recent appalling weather, the wheat field at Cold Hiendley is still vibrant with Yellow Wagtails.  At least eleven adults and two newly fledged juveniles were active this morning.
A pair of Buzzards, and their nest, were located in the area after a recently received report.
Other highlights: 2 Sand Martins were feeding over the fields at Cold Hiendley. Are these birds flying in from the quarry face at the top of Lundhill, Royston, at what is now the coal yard?  Also 3 singing Goldcrests were present in Haw Park Wood and 2 Common Terns and a Kingfisher were on Wintersett Res.
