The Edge

Broomhill Flash- A little more activity today with 11Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 3 male Shoveler, 2 Mute Swan, 2 Kestrel mobbing a Grey Heron, 1 Redshank, 1 Ruddy Duck, 1Little Grebe, 1 Snipe, 1 Common Tern and  1 Sand Martin( the first for over a week )

Bolton Ings- Singing males included 11 Chaffinch, 11 Chiffchaff, 10, Wren,10 Blackcap, 6 Willow Warbler, 2 Whitethroat, 2 Garden Warbler, 2 Reed Bunting and 1 Lesser Whitethroat. On the open water were 21 Tufted Duck, 20+ Gadwall (a family of 9 ducklings ), 4 Little Grebe, 4 Pochard ( 2m+2f), 2 Great Crested Grebe, 3 adult Mute Swans + 2 cygnets,1 Shoveler and 1 Common Tern. Also seen were 3 Buzzard ( 1 over the west end and a pair flying from east to west), 2 Kingfisher, 2 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Jay, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker,1 Grey Heron and 3 Oystercatchers.
