Old Moor - 23rd June

Another good day at Old Moor despite the weather, two adult Bitterns were seen today on the reedbeds which also had a Peregrine seen a couple of times. On the mere were the 2 Lesser Black Backed Gulls with their chick plus a couple of Redshanks in front of the hide. On the Field Pools were a drake Garganey,  3 Teal and another couple of Redshanks. On the Wader scrape were the Mediterranean Gull, 4 Common Terns, 5 adult Oystercatchers plus 1 juvenile, 3 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshanks, 10 Pochard (7 drakes, 3 ducks), 7 Teal (6 drakes, 1 duck), Avocets with chicks and 2 Curlews over. On Wath Ings were a further 5 Pochard (4 drakes, 1 duck) and the first brood of Tufted Duck (6 ducklings).

Wondering if all these teal and pochard are a bad sign, indicating there has been a poor breeding season?
