Carlton Marsh

Dull and cool , but lots of activity families of Blackcap, Great Tits, Blue Tits and for the first time ever a pair of Coal Tits.  Both adults were with at least 3 fledged young.  A Cuckoo is still present and a pair of Whitethroats were feeding young in a nest.  Two Song Thrush egg-shells found near the hide - predation or successful hatching?

Earlier in my garden I noted 12 species in one hour for the RSPB Spring Birdwatch. The highlights were: Bullfinch 2, Goldfinch 2, Greenfinch 1, Blackcap 1 and Lesser Whitethroat 2.
