Old Moor - 10th June
Went onto Old Moor following my visit to Bolton Ings, the mere first where the pair of Avocets with their chick are in front of the hide giving fantastic views. Onto the field pools where I couldnt see the Little Egret or the 2 Teal reported earlier. New from Wath Ings were a brood of 9 Gadwall, also present 88 adult Gadwall and a Barn Owl. On the Wader Scrape were 4 Little Ringed Plovers, 1 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin and the 2 broods of 2 Avocets, The ringed Mediterranean Gull was seen but again I didnt see it. The Bittern was seen and I saw a Hobby over the mere from the new Hobby viewing balcony.
