The Wall of Fame?

Old Moor today - Bittern seen several times, Curlew through + Dunlin, Med Gull (3 cy).


The Sand Martin wall was checked yesterday revealing there were six pair, with two broods having hatched so far.

A bird ringed in the Sand Martin Wall on 17-06-11 was trapped 15 days later (02-07-11)  at Wintersett Reservoir, 12 km NNW. A more lengthy recovery involved one rung in the wall on 24-07-11 that was trapped on 25-08-11 at Pett Levels, Winchelsea (East Sussex), 324 km SSE (32 days).

There were a shed load more last year?
What was the score last year?

It would be interesting to know the difference in last years numbers compared to this year.
It looks like some species have had a poor migration into the country and then when they have got here they have had all this lousy wet and cold weather to contend with.
This trend of wet summers is becoming a bit worrying for the long term future of some species.
