Edderthorpe weekend
The highlight was on Saturday when a Red Kite graced the skies; It was seen over Bolton Ings and finally came into Edderthorpe airspace about 20 minutes later at 10.10 although very distantly over Darfield. Twenty minutes later it was much closer over Storrs Mill Wood as it slowly made its way northwards. Little Egrets are quickly coming into the area, 9 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. Still up to 14 Ringed Plover and 4 Little Ringed Plovers on the mud. Redshank are slowly heading away and back to the coast with numbers now into single figures. Two Green Sandpipers on Houghton Washland where there is still a chipping Common Snipe. Most of the Lapwing chicks from the late broods are surviving and growing well.

Graham ,Had a Red Kite on Thursday at 10.00am at Edderthorpe. It was over the lay-by for 10mins before drifting off South.I put it on Twitter but apparently I sent the message to myself.Have now rectified that problem thanks to Alan.
