After yesterday's excitement at Old Moor, it was back to the quieter side of the Dearne Valley.
Wombwell Ings - Present were 3 Mute Swan, 18+9y Gadwall, 4 Tufted Duck, 4 Mallard, 2 Shoveler, 1 Cormorant, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Grebe, 5 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 4 Lapwing, 3 Redshank, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Kestrel, 3 Skylark and 1 Kingfisher. The one young Grey Wagtail continues to be fed by its parents near the bridge over the Dearne.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swans + 5y cygnets, 26 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag, 23 Tufted Duck, 6+8y Mallard, 2 Gadwall, 2+1y Pochard, 1 Shoveler, 1 Cormorant, 60+ Coot, 2 Moorhen,24 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Redshank, 3 LBB Gull and 1 Little Owl.
Warbler Way -Singing males included 12 Chiffchaff, 8 Blackcap, 7 Willow Warbler and 6 Whitethroat.
Bolton Ings -On the open water were 2 Mute Swan + 7 cygnets, 8 Greylag, 4 Canada Geese, 20 Tufted Duck, 19 Gadwall, 8+6y Mallard, 3 Pochard, 2 Shoveler, 7+2y Great Crested Grebe, 4+1y Little Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 103 Coot, 2+2y Moorhen, 1 LBB Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Grey Partridge, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Kestrel and 1 Oystercatcher.
