Cudworth Common
As reported elsewhere, it seems the Lapwings have had a very poor breeding season on Cudworth Common and in the Symphony enclosure. A minimum of 19 pairs attempted to nest here, quite a few hatched young but only 6 fledged young could be found this morning, a very poor outcome. A few are still sitting on eggs so it's not over yet (but the weekends weather forecast wont be helpful). Ringed Plover 8, a couple sitting but no chicks or young seen, Little Ringed Plover 4 adults but no young seen, Redshank 12 adults no young seen although their anxiety suggested some young in the vegetation.
