Carlton Marsh

Last night's moth session (29th) with Elaine Evans, Chris Parkin, Dave Smith, Keith Webster and Richard Laverack provided 24 species of macro moth, which included 2 that were new for the list - Brown Rustic and Dingy Shell. Other beauties of note were Clouded Silver, Large Emerald, Small Yellow Wave, Herald and Blackneck. The micro Donacuala forficella was also new.
A Tawny Owl flew over the scrape at dusk and 2 Long Eared Owls were calling high above the car park after midnight. A calling Oystercatcher flew north at 00.30hrs and a Barn Owl was still singing when we left at .01.00hrs!  At least 3 Noctule bats were still feeding over the scrape after midnight.
