Carlton Marsh 4th June

Last nights mothing session provided a new species- Seraphim. Herald, Chinese Character and Common Lutestring entered the light trap. Tawny Owl was calling and 3 Noctule, 4 Daubenton's and several Pipistrelle bats were busy catching insects. Earlier 2 Barn Owls were hunting over the meadows and a Weasel was seen.

South Kirkby tip
Cuckoo 1 singing male, 172 Common Blue, 3 Large Skipper, 15 Dingy Skipper and 35 Small Heath.

Rabbit Ings
Cuckoo 1 singing male, Common Blue 136, Small Heath 124, Brown Argus 2 and the first Painted Lady. It was good to record this may blue's after recent catastrophic declines. (Chris Parkin)
