South Kirkby Pit Tip

As expected the Wheatear we saw on Monday had moved on, but the 2 LRP's were still present. Singing warblers included 6 Whitethroat, 2 Reed Warbler and 3 Willow Warbler. Several Skylarks were present, which lead to a nest of 5 eggs being discovered and a Cuckoo was calling.

Butterflies
Common Blue 166, Small Heath 36, Dingy Skipper 6, Meadow Brown 3 and Orange-tip female 1.
The day flying Chimney Sweeper was also seen.

Carlton Marsh had new broods of Mallard and Gadwall and a Little Egret spent most of the day here.
